My Gatlon...

You are actually napping at the same time as your brother so lucky me I get to write to you! You are a very cool baby. I said when I was pregnant with you that you had some wild movements and we thought you might be feisty. YES! You get so mad when I have to pause your feeding for burps you will throw your head back and kick your feet! Of course I just laugh and think its cute but you take bubba time very seriously. You are quite the eater. You also have an issue with spit-up and I'm currently driving myself mad trying to figure out what to do. The doctor has me thickening your formula with rice cereal which seems to help the spit-up but I don't know how your tummy likes it. Your Grammi told me when your dad was a baby he would projectile spit-up everywhere. She says its the sensitive Binker stomach. By the time I figure it out you will be eating solids so I guess I should just get through these days of laundry laundry laundry! You may wonder why I'm writing this to you. Well I just thought maybe one day you will have kids and wonder what you were like. So far at (almost) 11 weeks old you eat, spit-up, fuss a minute, stare at all of us, smile, coo, just started giggling, and sleep -almost 8 hours straight at night :). You are batting your hands at dangling toys and sometimes my face! Yes when you are upset you start swinging! Oh but its so cute. Your smile is so contagious to us all including Wyatt. Actually you light up when Wyatt is talking to you. You love watching your big brother and he loves trying to teach you things and show you all his toys.

So the stats at your 9 week check-up. 13 pounds 12 ounces, 24 1/4 inches. You are in the 90% for both height and weight. When the doctor walked in the room she started laughing at the sight of you and said "someone likes to eat!" Yes you do.

When you were first born I thought for sure you would look like your dad BUT nope you look like your mama. Its pretty cool to look at you and see myself. Wyatt is an exact replica of your dad so its nice to feel like my genes got put in somewhere and I'm not just the baby carrier. Speaking of that your dad likes to call me the bubba lady like you boys are in some club and I'm just around to feed all of you. Obviously he's kidding because its so apparent whose in charge around here but I think its funny that he talks to you like he will whip me into shape to make those bubbas faster! Ya ok dada.

Oh my Gatlon what else... I almost forgot to write about the lab lady!! Yes you had a reading from the lab lady when I was pregnant just like Wyatt got a reading when I was pregnant with him! So I went to do all the extensive blood work you have to do and was hoping see her. As she was prepping me I couldn't help but smile and get nervous because I wanted ask if she had any feelings about you. Well she sensed it and said "this one is going to be like you, you know have the gift like you do. This one will be special." I thought she was saying special like some kind of deformity which got me scared but she said no just special. I know exactly what she's talking about and wonder if you will be like me. Time will tell. She also said your name had to be something special and to look in the book of Esther. I tried to look it up but had a hard time finding it. Your probably wondering how we came up with Gatlon. Ugh it was so hard finding a name to sound good ole boy- thats my theme! I let your dad name you since I named Wyatt and thats the name he liked. Of course everyone thought it was strange but thats because no ones ever heard it. The more you say it though the more it fits. I love your name. Its different. A friend of your Uncle Bob gave his son this name as a middle name so thats where we first heard it. I think your dad liked that its the name of an old school gun -the gatling. Anyway we were unsure up to the minute we were being discharged from the hospital and filling out your birth certificate. The nurses said we didn't have to decide then but I was adamant about not leaving there without you having a name. We almost named you Benson but everyone said they thought of some TV show that had a butler with that name. This should be fun for you to read one day-what you were almost named. I kicked around Hudson but your dad said no. So there you go with the history of how your name came about. Thank your dad :)

I know I'm leaving things out but lets just blame fatigue. You two keep me on my toes and I wouldn't trade it for the world. Thank you for being you Gatlon and coming into our lives. You are a blessing and I promise to cherish you always like the gift you are. -Love Mom

PS One personality trait that we've noticed is how you like to snuggle blankets on your cheeks. I lay you an a cloth in case you spit up and you always pull both sides in so its bunched up by your face. Too cute. Will you always like blankets close to your face? Time will tell. Maybe when you're 30 you will read this and say "See, I've always liked my blankie!" ;)
